Over the next few weeks, members of the Night & Day Studios staff will share some of their favorite apps. Today, writer Chris Wrenn shares one of his.
I don’t mean to brag, at least not to much, but the picture above is a screen grab from my phone. It’s from QuizUp, a trivia game app that I visit almost more than any other excluding practical applications like maps and email. There is a lot to love about QuizUp, but here are a few of my favorite things:
You can test your knowledge (or guesses) against people from all over the world.
There are hundreds of categories; I’ve been in the top of 90’s R&B, Baking, and Cat Breeds along with more traditional topics like General Knowledge and Word Definitions. I’d put dollars down that no one reading this could beat me at 90’s R&B, by the way.
You can play against friends or strangers.
There are options for real-time play and delayed play (where a challenger has already gone through the questions). I prefer real-time because it seems a bit more competitive.
Players can use avatars or photos if desired, which adds a personal element to the game.
Each round is fairly short, so it’s perfect for breaks and down time. I often play on my train commute.
It’s free without any purchases or ads.
I could go on, because really I do love this app, and should you visit I’ll likely see you there. Watch out.
